Bhí mé agus mo rang ag canadh os comhair an ardán. Chuaigh mé agus mo chara go dtí an siopa. Cheannaigh mé milseán. Chonaic mé leoraí agus rinceoirí sa pharáid. Bhí banna ceoil ag tús na paráide. Chonaic mé asal ar an leoraí agus chonaic mé an cailín ar an gcapall. Bhí sean charr agus gluaisrothar ag an paráid. Bhuamar an corn. Chuaigh mé agus mo chlann abhaile ar a haon a chlog. Rugadh Pádraig i mBreatain. Nuair a bhí sé óg d’ionsaigh Niall agus a shaighdiuirí ón Éireann an baile.Thóg siad Pádraig agus buachaillí eile ar ais go hÉireann. Dhíol Niall Pádraig. Cheannaigh Milchú Pádraig agus chuir Milchú é ar Sliabh Mis ag tabhairt aire do mhuca. Chaith sé sé bhliain ar an sliabh. Is minic a bhí sé fuar agus uaigneach. Is minic a bhí ocras air agus is minic a dúirt sé paidreacha.

Oíche amhain bhí brionglóid aige. Dúirt an aingeal leis “ Téigh go dtí an fharraige agus beidh long ag fanact leat” Chuaigh Pádraig abhaile. Bhí áthas an domhain ar a chlann. Tar éis tamaill chuaigh sé ar scoil sa Fhrainc. Rinneadh sagart de. Tar éis blianta eile rinneadh easpag de.

Chuala sé muintir Éirinn ag glaoch air. Shocraigh sé teacht go hÉireann. Thóg sé a lán séipéil agus dúsáid sé an seamróg chun an trionóid a mhíniú. Bhaist sé a lán daoine. Fuair sé bás i 461 AD.

Book Review

The Summer Of Lily And Esme -( John Quinn)

Fifth and sixth class read this book as our class novel. We really enjoyed it. This is a very good story. It was about finding information to make a big picture about two girls’ lives. The main characters are Alan (Albert), Lily and Esme. They were generally easy to read. The two girls had a happy but tragic life.
The author, John Quinn, is very good. At the start of the story everything was about the ghost, but after awhile the story changed. It gave a twist to the story, which made it interesting.
I really liked Lily and Esme; their lives seemed so different. I liked Alan and Lisa; they were so adventurous and Lisa had a great sense of humour. In parts of the story I didn’t like Alan’s parents, his father was a grouch and his mother was too fussy.
Overall I would give this story 10/10, it had everything -happy days, tragedies when Albert, Lily, and the girl’s parents died. It also was adventurous. I felt it was a very easy book to read and if there was a sequel I’d like to read it to find out what happens next.
It was just a funny, and memorable book and it was very descriptive about their lives. The best chapter was chapter 14, it was very moving.
I just felt it was one of the best books I’ve read although I usually like stories, which contain magic, but it’s nice to read something different for a change. It was just absolutely B R I L L IA N T!!!

BRIDGES
We have been studying bridges recently. We read about the history of bridge building and we learned the three different types of bridges - beam, arch and suspension. We read about the Romans and the wonderful bridges and aquaducts that they built. We read about how bridges have got better and there are now bridges joining islands and even countries.

This is an arch bridge made with plasticine and cardboard.>>>>>

Then we watched a science video about bridges. It showed how bridges are built and the different materials that are used. We saw some of the problems that the engineers have to deal with when they are designing and building bridges. Nowadays they can make bridges with longer spans because they have found ways of making steel strong.

We then had to design our own bridges. We tested how to make paper strong by folding it and twisting it and making layers of it. We then used some of these methods when we made our bridges. Here you can see some of them.

<<< This is a simple beam bridge made strong with layers of paper.

This suspension bridge is made
with paper rolled into cables.

This was one of the best suspension bridges made.

Well done to all those involved in these projects. They are excellent.
