| Mrs
Mc Kane
On
our trip to Ard Aoibhinn we met a woman called Mrs Mc Kane. She has lived
in Ard Aoibhinn for ten years. She was born in Daingean. She was an only
child. She went to school there and in Edenderry.
Mrs Mc Kane wouldn’t have been here if her husband hadn’t
persuaded her to come to Ard Aoibhinn. If he didn’t persuade her
she would be living in Tullamore.
Mrs Mc Kane has three children. She keeps in touch with them by phone,
but she doesn’t see them too often because they live far away.
She lived in England for a while, but then she came back to Tullamore
and worked as an aid in the hospital.
Her nephew got in touch with a cousin of hers on the internet that she
hadn’t seen for fifty years, and Mrs Mc Kane went over to Scotland
to visit her. While she was there she went in a helicopter over the Highlands.
She had a great time when she met her cousin.
She had a great time when President Mary Mc Aleese came to Gleann Ard.
But she didn’t see President Mary Robinson because it was a cold
day.
Mrs Mc Kane said she wasn’t sad leaving her old house. She goes
to all the activities and she is very good at crafts. She lives alone
now since her husband died.
