The Building of Ard Aoibhinn

The building of Ard Aoibhinn started in 1990. It took two years to build. They got the field off Patrick Daly. Joe Doolan was the main builder. The first job they did was to build a road in the field. They had plumbers, electricians, builders and carpenters.
Local people took part in the building. Some work was done for free, while other work was done for pay. Every house has two bedrooms one bathroom a kitchen and a back kitchen and a toilet.
The builders also built a roundabout to get in and out of Ard Aoibhinn. The houses were built for either one or two people.
Local people put in paths and lawns for free. Lots of people enjoyed helping and are glad Ard Aoibhinn was built.
Ard Aoibhinn was opened in 1992 and the first person to move in was Frank Conroy.
