OUR SCHOOL CREST...

The school crest is divided into four sections using the school colours of blue and white. The tree represents the woods of Gortnamona made famous by Percy French; the area around the school was covered in trees upto the 1940's. The castle represents the home of the O'Molloys of Firceall, the Irish chieftains of this area,who had a castle overlooking Pallas Lake.The book represents education in Gortnamona - from the hedge schools to the national school built in 1854 to the present school. The swan can be seen on Pallas Lake throughout the year.
